Does your teen want to get involved and learn more about pharmacy?
There are several options:
- Find a mentor - Connect your teen with a person who is familiar with pharmacy, can give them advice, and answer any questions. This could be a science teacher, guidance counselor, health professions advisor, family member, local pharmacist, etc.
- Meet with a guidance counselor - Your teen needs to make sure that they’re taking the right math and science courses, such as chemistry, biology, physics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. English, history, foreign languages, business, and computer courses also are a plus!
- Gain experience - Have your teen experience the daily routine of a pharmacist by spending a day with a one in your area or volunteering at a community health center or hospital. Have them speak to student pharmacists and ask what courses they felt were most important for helping them prepare for a pharmacy education.
